Hafenfest is Flensburg’s biggest summer party — a one-day celebration of the harbour that draws over 80,000 visitors from Germany, Denmark, and the wider Baltic region. The entire Schiffbrücke promenade and harbour basin transform into an open-air festival ground from morning until midnight.

The Programme

11:00 — Opening Parade
A traditional sailing flotilla circles the inner harbour while the Flensburg Stadtkapelle (city brass band) plays from the quayside.

12:00 to 22:00 — Three Stages of Live Music

Throughout the day

22:30 — Fireworks Finale
A 20-minute fireworks display launched from a barge in the centre of the firth — the only night of the year fireworks are permitted on the harbour.

Practical Tips

Hafenfest is loud, busy, and brilliant. It’s the day Flensburg shows off — and proves that Germany’s northernmost city throws one of its best summer parties.
